Rainbow flag raising ceremony set to kick off Pride month

SALISBURY, Md. – On June 1st from 12 to 1 pm., Salisbury PFLAG will be holding a ‘Rainbow flag raising’ ceremony to kick off Pride month. The event will be held right in Salisbury on 125th South division street.

The organization will hand out mini pride flags, and there will be an opportunity to sign and decorate ribbons to be used in the ‘Ribbons of pride’ community art project.

A PFLAG board member tells 47 ABC, the event is all about recognizing the LGBTQ community, reminding the community they exist, and connecting everyone together. “The progressive pride flag is about inclusion and diversity and welcoming all to it. Especially PFLAG, it’s not just about queer people themselves but our family and them being able to support us,” says¬†William Wallace, a Board Member with PFLAG Salisbury. “We’re people just like everyone else. This is just a regular event that just so happens to be recognizing a particular group in the community.”

PFLAG also tells us, they will be at the next third Friday and will be giving away some pride swag.
