Parkside blanks Bennett, take down the defending 3A State Champs in a big way
SALISBURY, MD.- Behind 8 runs in the first three innings, the Parkside Rams shut out defending 3A state champion Bennett 10-0 through 6 innings. The Rams get their first win of the season after their first two games were postponed due to rain. The loss is the Clippers first on the year, dropping them to 1-1.
It’s been two years since we saw baseball in the Bayside, May 15, 2019 was the last time we say any Bayside baseball before the Pandemic. The Bennett Clippers were hoisting the 3A state championship trophy. The Rams fell in the 2019 2A East regional finals 2-0 to Falston.
The two teams met today in what looked to be the best Bayside South matchup of the young spring season. The Rams got the bats going early, scoring eight runs in the first three innings to take an 8-0 lead headed to the top of the fourth. From there, the defense began to take control. Just one hit given up by the Rams defense and, ten strike outs for Parkside ace Brady Bailey through six innings. The Rams took their 8-0 lead into the bottom of the 6th inning and that’s where they would put this one away. Aidan Brinsfield grounded into center to bring home a run from second. Then Gavin Gray singled into center to plate Brinsfield for the tenth and game ending run as Parkside shuts out Bennett in six innings 10-0.
Brady Bailey gets the win for the Rams with ten K’s, one hit earned and no runs given up in six complete innings.
