OC cruisin’ week finally returns for 30th anniversary
OCEAN CITY, Md. – This time last year, Delmarva residents endured another hard decision due to the pandemic, the cancellation of another major event, Ocean City Cruisin’ week. However, this year it’s back on and cruisers say they’ve been waiting for this for what seems to be a very long time. “It’s like finally we’re here!,” says cruiser, Donna Myers. Another cruiser, Jennifer Copsey tells us, “With limited restrictions, it’s been really nice. It’s nice to see the people and be able to get back to some type of normalcy.”
Although many restrictions are lifted, cruisers say they’re they’re still taking cautions this year. However, for those who are vaccinated, they say they’re just excited to be out and about. “Everybody get vaccinated so we can enjoy all this and it’s just wonderful to be out and about again and have some type of normal life, enjoying the sunshine and be grateful,” says cruiser, Donna Wilhelm. Donna’s husband, Gary Wilhelm adds, “It’s just good to feel some type of freedom again. It feels like we were locked up before and it’s just good to be out and about.”
Cruisers we spoke with say, they’re not only excited for cruisin’ week, but they’re excited to enjoy life again. They also tell 47 ABC that being with friends and family is the most exciting part for them, especially after not seeing some of them for almost a year. “It’s just a lot of things we missed over the last year but I think we’re back on track and if everybody would get vaccines, things would be a lot better,” says another cruiser, Ken Myers.
Some families say they’re even getting a chance to celebrate special events they might otherwise not have been able to. “We’ve just did all the precautions we could so we could come down and enjoy this year because he has his birthday and this was a good trip to come and say hello, we’re out again,” says Ken’s wife, Donna Myers.
OC cruisin’ week lasts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and ends on Sunday the 23rd. We’re told anyone is welcome to come and show off their cars.
