Non-profit organization bringing community together through kayak fishing
SALISBURY, Md.- Saturday was perfect for a kayak fishing event held in Salisbury at Newland Park.
Members of the Salisbury chapter of a non-profit called, Heroes on the Water, put the event on.
The non-profit provides therapeutic programs for veterans, active-duty military, first responders and their families.
The local chapter, called Tangier Sound, said bringing the community together is a big part of their mission and they aim to keep doing that in the future.
“My hope is that we can keep growing as a chapter and be able to offer more people the opportunity to get out on the water and move around the Delmarva area to different locations do fresh water to salt water, and get some more local police departments and first responders involved as well as all our military in the area and veterans,” Rudy Yarworth, Coordinator for the Tangier Sound Chapter, said.
We’re told they try to do at least six events per year from April through Fall.
