Local school hosts food drive to give back to community

SALISBURY, MD.-  Choices Academy hosted a food drive partnering with the Maryland Food Bank.

Staff and students were out helping deliver goods to families in need.

The school surpassed their last distribution in March,  giving out a total of 12,0000 pounds of food.

Administration say that though the pandemic has put a halt on much of their efforts, giving back to the community is always their main goal. “We kind of serve an under populated community so we just want to make sure they’re getting their basic needs met,” said Choices Academy Principal Courtney Elliot.

This is the last drive for the school this year,  but school officials say as things get back to normal they hope to continue their efforts to help the community.

A community garden is also in the works on the school grounds.
