Local radio personality running 5k a day to support a good cause

SALISBURY, Md. – 100 miles. That’s how many miles one local man is running this month.

While you may recognize his voice from one of your favorite radio shows, he’s using his time off the air to raise money to help children.

For the month of May, when he’s off the air, you may see Randy Scott running a 5k through Salisbury every single day. That’s nearly 100 miles in one month, 96.1 to be exact. And while that’s definitely a challenge, it’s all for a good cause.

“I thought it’d be really cool, because one, 5k rhymes with May, and two, just a way to give back to the kids at St. Jude, a place I’ve been three times, and it’s the kind of place that just changes you,” Randy said.

While Randy hits the pavement, people can go online and donate to his personal 5k challenge. That money will go directly toward St. Jude, so they can continue the life-changing work they do.

And while Randy says he’s actually never been a runner before, he says he hopes by lacing up his sneakers and getting outside, other people feel encouraged to do the same.
