Delaware preps for the 102nd state fair
HARRINGTOWN, Del. – As summer begins, Delmarva families may have the dates July 22nd through the 31st circled. The Delaware State Fair is back, and they’re preparing for another summer but with some adjustments.
The 102nd annual Delaware State Fair is set, and fair organizers say this year will look different. Last year, we were in the heat of the pandemic and the fair proceeded, but with multiple restrictions.
Now with Delaware relaxing restrictions throughout the state, they say this year is definitely a more exciting one. There will still be spaced out settings, hand washing and sanitize stations, as well as pods at concerts. Masks are required if you are not vaccinated, but if you are and you feel comfortable, we’re told you can walk around without one.
However, organizers tells 47 ABC they’re ready to welcome the crowds back in a safe way. “We’re expecting this year as our state starts to open up, we’ll certainly be beneficiaries of the opportunity. As the governor said, we’re opening up Delaware!” says Assistant general manager and marketing director for the state fair, Danny Aguilar. He adds, “Last year was a challenge for many families and businesses so we’re excited to go back and celebrate summer and celebrate the Delaware state fair.”
Aguilar also tells us, they are monitoring changes to CDC guidelines, as well as keeping in close contact with the Governor’s office. They say their main goal is to provide a fun summer, while staying safe.
47 ABC is excited to be back at the Delaware State Fair this year. We will be broadcasting our News Hour Live weekdays and our 6 p.m. news on weekends from the Exhibit Hall.
