Colonel rattles off four runs in the 4th to take down St. Michaels, CR moves to 5-1 on the season
FEDERALSBURG, MD.- In a matchup of the two most recent 1A Bayside teams to reach the state title game, Colonel Richardson took down St. Michaels 7-3 of the second season in a row. With the win, the Colonels improve to 5-1 on the season, the loss drops the Saints to 4-3.
In the game of the year of 2019, eventual 1A state champion Colonel Richardson took down St. Michaels 10-9 in a matchup of the two winningest programs in Bayside history. After missing the 2020 season, the two rivals were hungry for a battle.
After a scoreless first inning, the Colonels finally got on the board with a two run single from Brock Johnson in the bottom of the second inning. The Saints answered back with a 3-0 run in the third and fourth innings to give the boys from Talbot county their first lead of the game. But that lead was short lived, colonel rattled off four runs the bottom of the fourth to retake the 6-3 lead. They would extend the lead to four with a run in the bottom of the sixth and with one last shot to force extras for the Saints, the Colonel defense stood strong with three straight runs to end it.
The Colonels will look to continue their hot streak when they travel to North Dorchester high to take on the Eagles tomorrow at 5:30. St. Mikes will look to get back in the win column Friday when they host Snow Hill.
