Annual police department night out, cancelled
GREENWOOD, Del. – This year the town will not be holding their police department’s national night out due to the pandemic.
Town leaders say, with this being a large scale event they would rather wait until next year. The annual night out is usually one of the main events for the town that also provides the police department a chance to interact with the community.
Although some residents understand why it’s being cancelled, others aren’t so happy with the decision. “Those events are what bring the traffic in, those events are what new people bring to your town, eventually you’re going to run people out of the town because there is nothing here for them,” says resident, Brandi Avery.
Now the police department does tell us, they enjoy hosting night out and were disappointed about the cancellation. However, they look forward to future community events once restrictions have officially changed.
