Traffic stop leads to discovery of stolen handguns, drugs

DOVER, Del. – Two men are behind bars after they were found in possession of guns and marijuana during a traffic stop.

At around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers stopped a vehicle in the area of S. DuPont Highway and Lotus Street. During the stop, officers detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, and a subsequent search led to the discovery of two handguns and 3.9 grams of marijuana.

Further investigation revealed that both handguns had been reported stolen. One was reported stolen with the Dover Police Department and the other with Delaware State Police Troop 3.

The driver, 27-year-old Shaquille Dixon, and 28-year-old Darnell Fullman were both taken into custody. Dixon was held at SCI on a $50,000 violation of probation, as well as a $50,000 cash bond on four counts of possession of a firearm/ammo by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, two counts of receiving a stolen firearm, and a traffic offense.

Fullman was charged with two counts of possession of a firearm/ammo by a person prohibited, carrying a concealed deadly weapon, and receiving a stolen firearm. He was held at SCI on a $35,000 secured bond.

A 20-year-old female was also charged with possession of marijuana.
