Sussex Academy junior trying to bring joy to kids with her toy drive

DELAWARE- A Sussex Academy junior is taking matters into her own hands to bring some joy into children’s lives.

Alissa Swann started her toy drive called Toys for Joy at the beginning of this month.

She is collecting toys at Kid’s Ketch, in Lewes, to benefit the Food Bank of Delaware and What is Your Voice Women’s and Children’s Shelter.

Swann says right now children need a little joy in life to spark creativity, and knows just how much her toys meant to her growing up.

“I think people shouldn’t just give just around Christmas, I think giving should be a year round tradition and just a life style, and I think it’s important for people to reflect upon other people, other than their lives and that way they can understand what other people are going through and can help them through it,” Swann said.

The Toy drive will last until the end of the month.

We’re told they are accepting new toys,  clothes,  books, and monetary donations.

Swann also said she is thankful for the owners of Kid’s Ketch for helping her make this happen.
