Salisbury Zoo bear cub to move to Philadelphia Zoo
SALISBURY, Md. – The Salisbury Zoo has announced that its bear cub, Sinchi, will soon move to the Philadelphia Zoo.
Zoo officials say they have recently separated the cub from his mother because both have shown through their behaviors that it was time for Sinchi to “leave the nest”.
“We at the Salisbury Zoo are both sad and happy as we prepare for Sinchi’s departure. Our keepers have worked very hard to provide our bears with a stimulating and supportive environment. Their success is marked by the fact that our bears are acting like bears. It has been a great year sharing this baby bear’s birth and growth with you, our visitors. We want to thank you for being involved in his life, for the support the community has given to the Salisbury Zoo, and for understanding these next chapters in Sinchi’s life,” zoo officials said in a statement.
Sinchi will be on exhibit through Thursday, April 8th, before moving to the Philadelphia Zoo. Zoo hours are Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
