More federal money coming to businesses to help during the pandemic

MARYLAND- U.S. Senator Ben Cardin said businesses can look forward to more help from the state, including funding.

The senator told this to leaders from Eastern Shore businesses Friday, during a virtual meeting on the effects of the pandemic.

During the meeting, Cardin heard stories about the challenges regarding the federal funding opportunities that have been made available during the pandemic.

Looking forward he said although the federal government has provided aid there’s still plenty more they can do.

Adding, that helping minority and female owned businesses is a big goal.

“It is one of my top priorities as chair to advance opportunities in minority businesses and undeserved communities to access the capital because we are not where we need to be, there’s no question about that,” Sen. Cardin, said.

Senator Ben Cardin said they have provided a trillion dollar relief to small businesses in the COVID relief packages, and added that they are expanding help for entertainment venues and restaurants to make up for revenue losses.
