DelDOT announces temporary closure of Georgetown intersection

GEORGETOWN, Del. – DelDOT says Route 9/East Market Street/Lewes-Georgetown Highway between Sand Hill Road and Rogers Avenue will be closed briefly next month for intersection improvements.

We’re told this will allow for the realignment of Sand Hill Road and Airport Road to intersect with Route 9/East Market Street/Lewes-Georgetown Highway at an improved angle.

The closure is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. on Saturday, May 1st. Weather permitting, construction is scheduled to end at 10 p.m. on Friday, May 21st.

Eastbound motorists should take US 9 to Sand Hill Road onto Burton Road to Gravel Hill Road and return to US 9. Westbound motorists will take US 9 to Park Avenue to South Bedford Street and Return to US 9.
