Coleman’s 4th quarter goal keeps Polytechs unbeaten streak alive
MILFORD, Del.- With 3:30 left in regulation, Polytech’s McKinley Boyce sent a corner into the box and found the head of Julian Coleman as she got it past the keeper for the game winner. The 1-0 win over Milford victory keeps the Panthers win streak alive which stands at 6-0, the loss drops the Buccaneers to 4-4.
The Panthers came into todays matchup on a five game win streak, the longest in the Henlopen. The Bucs have had a few quality wins this season but were coming off a tough 8-1 loss to Caesar Rodney.
The wind was playing a major factor throughout the entire game, neither team able to get any good shots off. Milford dominated the time of possession in the first half, kicking with the wind allowing them keep the ball on their side of the field but weren’t able to get the ball in the net.
After a scoreless game at the half, the momentum completely flipped with the field. Polytech keeping the ball on their side of the field the entire third quarter, getting shot after shot off but Bucs keeper Allyson Perry stood strong in net keeping the Panthers off the board most of the second half. With three minutes left in regulation, McKinley Boyce sent a sweet pass from the corner into the box and found the head of Julian Coleman as she got it past the keeper for what looked like the game winner. Milford made a few runs in the final minutes but couldn’t get on the board as Polytech held on for the 1-0 win.
The Panthers will look to continue their win streak this Saturday when they host Caesar Rodney (4-3). Milford returns to action Saturday when they host Dover (5-5).
