WASHINGTON, D.C. – Officials are reporting that two officers are injured, one critically, following an incident at the U.S. Capitol Friday afternoon.

We’re told that it has been reported that someone hit two U.S. Capitol Police officers with a car, and Capitol Police opened fire at the north barricade of the Capitol complex.

Shortly before 1:30 p.m., U.S. Capitol Police said in a tweet that they were “responding to the North Barricade vehicle access point along Independence Avenue for reports someone rammed a vehicle into two USCP officers.”

Law enforcement is reporting that a suspect is in custody, and that both officers and the suspect were taken to the hospital.

The Capitol is on lockdown due to the situation. Investigators are working to determine whether this was an intentional attack.
