Woodbridge falls to Sanford in state semifinal
HOCKESSIN, Del.– The Woodbridge girls basketball team was denied a chance to play for the 2021 DIAA championship on Wednesday night, falling to Sanford 64-39 in the state semifinal in Hockessin, DE.
The Blue Raiders never led in the game, and fell behind 20-5 after the first quarter. Trailing by 15 at the half, ‘Bridge was able to cut the Warrior lead down to 12 in the third quarter, but that is as close as the game got.
Senior Cha’Kya Johnson finished with a game-high 25 points, with fellow senior Janeria Scott chipping in with 6.
The 2021 season will go down as one of the most successful in program history, with the team finishing with an overall record of 13-4 and advancing to their first ever state semifinal.
