Weather Tidbits: Cloud Cover & Nighttime Temperatures
Cloud cover and nighttime temperatures square off in this Weather Tidbits. Heat is attained during the daytime from the sun, but when night occurs that heat will begin to escape back into space. Cloud cover plays a role on how much of that heat can be retained. When no clouds are involved at night;, that heat easily escapes, thus leading to colder temperatures. When clouds dominate the night sky; some of that heat will be blocked by the clouds and bounced back to the ground. This will create warmer nighttime temperatures; due to the blanket effect from the clouds.
