U.S. Congressman Harris Helps Get Marylanders Vaccinated

SALISBURY, MD. –   It’s not everyday you get a United States Congressman to administer your shot, but that’s exactly what people got today in Salisbury.

Congressman Andy Harris,  who’s also a doctor, put his medical experience to good use today at the state’s mass vaccination site at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center.

Rep. Harris says that the Lower Eastern Shore will be well covered for vaccinations soon with sites giving over 2,0000 vaccines daily. “There are plenty of people waiting to give Marylanders that vaccine so I urge everybody to call around, call your local drug store if they are some of the ones who have the vaccines. Call to your local health department or go online and make an appointment right here at the mass vaccination center,” said Rep. Harris.

He also tells 47ABC he feels confident Marylanders will make their own health a priority. “Look the government should never mandate that an adult should have to have a vaccine. I don’t think we’re going to need to do that. I think enough Americans will agree to be vaccinated on their own so that we’re going to achieve herd immunity,” said Rep. Harris. “Again, keep Marylanders on the lower shore safe and right now the way to do that is to get the vaccine.”

Rep. Harris adds that he has changed his view on advocating for one dose instead of two. He told us that he now believes Marylanders should take every opportunity to keep themselves safe.
