Seahawks soar as Decatur shuts out Crisfield on senior night
BERLIN, MD.- Behind three first half goals, the Stephen Decatur Seahawks defeated Crisfield 4-0 to move to 4-1 on the spring season. The loss drops the Crabbers to 3-2.
It was a battle of two teams coming off of deep playoff runs in 2019, the Crabbers falling in the state semifinals to Mount Ridge. The Seahawks defeated by Bennett in the round of 16.
The Seahawks came out like firing, three goals in the first half to make it a 3-0 lead at the break. Decatur getting goals from Miguel Cervantes with a penalty kick, Emmanuel Aroh, and Wil Barrett. The Crabbers were blue to get a few shots on goal by Ryan Byrd and Frankie Panzo but weren’t able to get them past the keeper.
Much like the first half, in the second half Decatur dominated in all phases of the game to keep Crisfield off the board. The Crabbers scored on their own goal to make it a 4 point game as Stephen Decatur held on for the 4-0 win over Crisfield.
The Seahawks return to the field when they host WiHi next Wednesday at 4 pm. The Crabbers will look to get back in the win column when they host Bennett next Monday at 4.
