Non-profit hoping to raise money for Berlin ping pong tables, skate park
BERLIN, Md.- In Berlin, a non-profit is looking to bring new outdoor activities to the town.
Tony Weeg, the President of We Heart Berlin Incorporated, started the non-profit back in 2020 when he was running for town council.
Although he did not win, he said he still wants to bring new projects to the area starting with a ping pong park at Stephen Decatur park.
Essentially, he wants to purchase two outdoor ping pong tables and create a cement pad.
He started a GoFundMe to help raise money for this project.
So far, Weeg said there has been a lot of support.
“We want to be the way that funds are raised to create new recreational opportunities ,” Weeg, said. “People are all donating from all walks of life 28 people who can only give five dollars, people who can give 500 dollars, you know its pretty awesome.”
Weeg said recently he had a meeting with the Berlin Parks Commission about the plans, who gave him good feedback.
He also added that there is another GoFundMe up to bring a skate park to Berlin.
