Harriett’s House receive donation for a home that will be used for a new residential program
MARYLAND- A Cambridge resource center for women who have experienced human trafficking is moving forward with building a residential program.
The Executive Director of the Harriett’s House, Julie Crain, said recently a home was donated to them for this program.
The home will provide short-term housing for women seeking immediate care in situations that involve human trafficking and exploitation.
Crain said she is excited to move this process forward.
But she said it’s going to take all hands on deck to help transform this house for the program.
“The community’s help is going to be pivotal in moving this forward because we cannot provide this service without the community’s involvement, and for them to be a part of this project would be so fulfilling to say I was part of that,” Crain said.
We are told a number of projects will need to be done like adding a new roof and fence.
They’re also in need of donations, since the estimated budget to run the program per year is $270,000.
