Funding for disability programs at SU
SALISBURY, Md – With the recent passing of the American Rescue Plan Act, many organizations will be affected by this bill. The disability resource center at Salisbury University focuses on providing support services for students with a disability.
Between academic skill building, socialization building, learning assessments and much more, the program says they aim to help students do their best even after college. With extra funding, they say they would be able to expand mentorship programs, get an advising team, extra resources and support, and extra faculty to accommodate these changes. Not just resources for the students, but for the faculty as well.
“We know that there’s a need there, our faculties do so many things and so we provide that as a support for faculty on campus as a service for them and we enjoy it but we manage it with our current staff. So any opportunity to add to that would be great,” says Candance Henry, the Director of Disability Resource Center at SU.
The disability center also says their students have worked hard to overcome this pandemic, and they’re excited to be able to give them extra support. If you want to learn more about the disability programs at SU, just visit their website.
