Drone shows coming to OC this summer, replacing firework shows

OCEAN CITY, Md.- This summer don’t be surprised if you see many drones flying in Ocean City.

That’s because the town is bringing some new fun to the area.

You can look forward to the town putting on Drone shows beginning in June.

They will be replacing a lot of their weekly firework shows that they do downtown and at Northside Park for “Sundaes in the Park.”

We are told this year they wanted to do something out of the box, since the pandemic has really changed things for everyone.

The town said they have budgeted and saved for this and will be taking the money they usually spend on the fireworks towards drones instead.

“Being in Ocean City, being able to experience something different it’s a state of the art show, it’s a large investment because of the technology, there’s music, there’s lights, there’s different shapes,” Jessica Waters, OC Communications Dir., said.

Waters said the cost difference isn’t much to the town.

The town is working with a private partner who will be the one purchasing the drones and setting things up to run the shows.

We are told there will be fireworks still for the Fourth of July.
