Dimes’ big day boosts Sussex Tech past Delmar, Ravens start season 3-0
DELMAR, Del.- Behind 8 strike outs and two RBI’s by senior Cody Dimes, the Sussex Tech Ravens soared past Delmar for the 2-0 win. The win boosts Tech to 3-0 to start the season, Delmar falls to 1-1-1.
The Wildcats came into this one averaging 11 runs a game sitting at 1-0-1 (Game with Lake Forest postponed due to darkness). The Ravens sitting at 2-0 for the second straight season looking for that third win.
It was a defensive battle through the first three innings, neither team able to get past second base until the top of the fourth inning. With a man on second and third base, pitcher Cody Dimes knocked a double into center bringing around Connor Ellingsworth and Jonathan Stokley to break the 0-0 tie. Wildcats pitcher Andrwe Callaway struck out two batters to get out of the inning without surrendering anymore runs.
The score would stay the same until the seventh giving the Wildcats one more chance to win or force extras but the Ravens defense came through again to hold on for the 2-0 win.
It was a big day for Tech senior Cody Dimes, 8 strikeouts, zero runs, 1 hit and the go-ahead game winning 2 RBI’s.
The Ravens return to the diamond Wednesday when they travel to Smyrna to take on the Eagles. Delmar also travel to play Smyrna next, this Friday at 4:15.
