Delaware to move into next COVID vaccination phase Wednesday
WILMINGTON, Del. – Governor John Carney and the Delaware Division of Public Health have announced an expansion of the state’s COVID-19 vaccination program.
Starting Wednesday, pharmacies in Delaware may begin vaccinating individuals aged 50 and over. In addition, healthcare providers, including hospitals, may vaccinate patients 16 and over with high and moderate-risk medical conditions beginning Wednesday. Providers who are not vaccinating may refer patients to hospital systems.
Delawareans should contact their medical provider about vaccination opportunities. Providers are also encouraged to contact their highest risk patients directly to scheduled vaccination appointments. Non-paid caregivers of Delawareans with high and moderate risk medical conditions may also qualify for vaccination through medical providers.
On Tuesday, March 23rd, the State of Delaware will open its COVID-19 vaccination waiting list to any Delawarean aged 50 and older. That list can be found here.
Over the course of the next few weeks, Delaware officials will continue focusing on vaccinating Delawareans 65 and over who are registered on the state’s waiting list. Any Delawarean in this category who is not currently registered on the state’s waiting list should do so.
