Balloon artist bringing smiles to nursing home residents

SALISBURY, Md.- A balloon artist is spreading some sunshine to nursing homes during these uncertain times.

Sandy Johnson brought these balloon buddies to residents at the Wicomico Nursing Home Thursday.

She said every balloon was sponsored by people in the community or donated.

Johnson said nursing home residents are alone during the pandemic and they need to know we care about them.

So, she’s hoping by bringing them these balloons it will lift their spirits.

“There’s not laughter in the hallways, there’s not guess and visitors walking down the hallways, there’s not emotion and energy,  these we think will create energy when you see 60 of those in one place you gotta grin,” Johnson said.

Johnson said she would like to do every Eastern Shore facility.

She said across the country balloon artists are trying to do this initiative of creating balloons for nursing home residents.
