Atlantic General Hospital addressing health inequity with COVID-19 vaccination clinic

WORCESTER COUNTY, Md.- Atlantic General Hospital is partnering with faith-based organizations to administer first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

This is we’re told to help address the issue of health inequity.

The President and CEO said there is disparity in who’s getting access to the vaccine, and after talking church leaders they said a lot of this is attributed to vaccine hesitancy among cultural groups, paired with difficulties in signing up.

“I think its more of a rural access issue it’s a socio-economic issues, it’s a technology literacy issue,” Michael Franklin, President and CEO, said. “We will continue to work to get access for everybody in our community to that vaccine.”

The vaccination clinic will happen tomorrow at Atlantic General from noon to 1.

All appointment slots are filled for vaccinations, as more than 250 people will receive the vaccine.
