Seaford sits atop Henlopen South with huge win over Delmar

SEAFORD, Del.- Behind a game high 23 points from Junior Tryese Fortune, the Seaford Blue Jays defeated Delmar 66-52 to move to 7-1 on the year. The loss drops the Wildcats to 6-3. The Blue Jays now sit atop the Henlopen South with sole possession of first place.

Back on January 26th, the Wildcats came away with the huge home win over Seaford 60-51. That loss for Seaford sparked a five game win streak coming into tonights home game with Delmar.

The teams came out answering blow for blow, neither team leading by more than three in the first half. The Blue Jays led 17-15 after the first quarter, and then  33-31 to end the half. Tyrese Fortune was feasting under the basket in the first half, half high 13 points inside. Wildcats Senior Cam Bozman led Delmar with nine points, all 3’s.

The Blue Jays began the second half on a seven point run, after a Delmar time out the Wildcats were able to cut the lead to four with just under two minutes to play. Five straight missed free throws in the final 20 seconds of the third quarter killed the Wildcats down the stretch, Blue Jays took a six point lead into the fourth quarter. In the fourth, Seaford pulled away outscoring Delmar 17-9 for the 66-52 win.

Seaford returns to action Saturday when they travel to Greenwood to take on Woodbridge at 11 am. The Wildcats look to get back on track when they host Lake Forest also Saturday at 3:30.
