Salisbury man sentenced for January 2020 bank robbery

SALISBURY, Md. – A Salisbury man convicted of robbing a bank last year was sentenced in Wicomico County on Monday.

On January 31, 2020, 42-year-old Michael Baumann robbed the Hebron Savings Bank on Riverside Drive by handing the teller a handwritten note claiming to be in possession of a gun. He then stole $2,715 in cash and fled the bank. Officers with the Salisbury Police Department were able to identify and arrest Baumann, who at the time of the incident was on probation for forgery.

Baumann was sentenced to 20 years behind bars. Following his release, he will serve five years of supervised probation with substance abuse and mental health treatment.
