Mistakes by Delmarva Christian lead to a big loss to Sallies

GEORGETOWN, Del.- Despite a team high 16 points from Gabe Herling, the Delmarva Christian Royals fell to Salesianum 59-37. The loss drops the Royals to 2-6 on the year.

It’s been a rough season so far for Delmarva Christian, the Royals unable to get above .500 all year and now entering tonights game on a three game losing streak. It’s been the complete opposite of last season, finishing with a 18-2 record and the No. 8 seed in the DIAA Playoffs. A win over Sallies would be a huge boat of confidence for the Royals.

Things started out pretty well for Delmarva Christian, the Royals taking a 7-6 lead midway though the first quarter. Unfortunately, that was the only lead the Royals would hold the rest of the first half. The Sals dominated the first and second quarters, taking a 26-13 lead at the break.

In the third quarter, the Royals began to cut into the lead. With under four minutes to play in the third, the Sals lead was just seven points. After a timeout, the Sals began to run away with it. A 15 point lead after the third lead to a 22 point final as Sallies defeated Delmarva Christian 59-37.

The Royals return to the court tomorrow at 5 when they travel to Wilmington to take on Sallies in a rematch of tonights game.
