Laurel man charged with assault following altercation
LAUREL, Del. – Delaware State Police say a Laurel man is behind bars following an altercation that took place Wednesday night.
We’re told that just before 9 p.m., troopers responded to a residence on Branch Road to meet with the 48-year-old female acquaintance of the suspect, 49-year-old Sung Park, who was involved in a physical altercation at a home on Mirey Branch Road and Trussum Pond Road with Park. The female was found to be suffering from serious physical injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance for treatment.
Park was located at a residence on Mirey Branch Road, where police say it was evident an altercation had taken place. It was learned through the investigation that a verbal argument had broken out and escalated into a physical altercation. Park was not injured during the incident and was taken into custody without incident.
Park was charged with first and third degree assault, menacing, and disorderly conduct. He is currently being held at SCI on a $31,200 secured bond.
