Delaware nurse receives Daisy Award for recent efforts caring for a patient

DELAWARE – One nurse in Delaware is being recognized for his superhuman efforts to care for a patient and the patient’s husband.

Beebe Healthcare says Daniel Pauley went above and beyond to help one of his patients in the ICU who was unable to have visitors because of COVID restrictions. The patient said Daniel would always tell him that his husband was outside even though he could not see him, because he wanted him to know his husband was near all the time. One day, Daniel asked the patient’s husband a few questions about what might make the patient feel better, and he said he thought a head massage or listening to his favorite song would help. So, Daniel and another nurse played the song “A Groovy Kind of Love” by Phil Collins while they massaged his head.

Beebe presented Daniel with the Daisy Award for being an “extraordinary nurse”.
