Woodbridge completes the epic comeback, shocks IR in instant classic

DAGSBORO, Del.- After being down 19 midway through the third quarter, the Woodbridge Blue Raiders finished the game on a 39-4 run to defeat Indian River 58-42. With the win, Woodbridge starts the season at 1-0, the loss drops Indian River to 1-2.

After a week of postponements and cancelations for Woodbridge, the Blue Raiders finally got on the court. They took the trip to Dagsboro to take on IR and the ‘Bridge came out a little rusty. They were missing shots, losing the ball and missing assignments and River took advantage. After a tie game to end the first quarter, IR began to pull away. The Indians took a four point lead at halftime and poured it on in the second half. IR opened the half on a 15-0 run to take the 19 point lead midway through the third quarter prompting a Woodbridge time out.

Following the timeout, the Blue Raiders came alive. They saw the IR 15 point run and followed it up with a 19-0 run to tie the game at 38 to end the third quarter. In the fourth, the ‘Bridge ran away with it. In the final 12 minutes of the game, the Blue Raiders went on a 39-4 run to complete the epic comeback and instant classic.

The Blue Raiders will try to build on that momentum next Thursday when they host Delmar at 6:30. IR returns to the court looking to get back in the win column when they travel to Laurel next Tuesday to take on the Bulldogs at 4pm.
