Weather Tidbits: Cold Moon

The last full moon of 2020 is explored in this Weather Tidbits. The December full moon is known as the Cold Moon. It’s called the Cold Moon, due to the cold weather finally gripping us, now that winter is in full swing. It’s also called the Long Night Moon, due to the moon traveling its most northerly trajectory in the sky but also its longest moonlight of the year. This moon differs from the other full moons of the year, in that its best viewed during moonrise. The reason is due to an orange glow on the moon created by the reflection of the setting sun.
