Vaccines for Veterans in Dover

The Wilmington Medical Center in Dover says their goal this weekend is to get 500 veterans 75 years of age or older vaccinated against COVID-19.

The free event is going to be held this Sunday. Appointments or walk ins are welcome. 47ABC is told told the focus is on older veterans because they are the most vulnerable population to serve.
In the aging bracket in general, veterans represent the high end disproportionately.

Vince Kane of Wilmington VA tells 47 ABC,
“Many of them have multiple medical complications It’s really critical that we get this population vaccinated they’re the most at risk and we wanna make sure we can vaccinate them safely and quickly.”

For those interested the Wilmington Medical Center is located at 655 Bay Road at the Blue Hen Mall Corporate Center.
