Smyrna sits atop the Henlopen North with huge win over CR
CAMDEN, Del.- Behind 22 points from Elijah Credle and 18 from Olumuyiwa Salako, the Smyrna Eagles defeated Caesar Rodney 70-52 to move to 5-0 on the season. The loss drops CR to 4-1.
It was a battle of two unbeaten’s in Camden, Caesar Rodney hosting Smyrna and the home team came out hot. The Riders went on an 11-0 run to end the first quarter up 17-12.
To open up the second quarter, the Eagles went on a run of their own. A 10-2 run sparked by huge Olumuyiwa Salako dunk in the first four minutes to take the 22-19 lead and held on for the 25-22 lead at half. That lead ballooned in the second half with Smyrna leading by 13 to end the third quarter after a Cole Matthews three beat the buzzer. Smyrna held on in the fourth quarter to take it 70-52 in the end.
Smyrna returns to the court Friday when they travel to Georgetown to take on Sussex Central at 7 pm. The Riders will look to get back in the win column when they take on Sussex Tech in Georgetown Friday at 7 pm.
