SBY Charter review committee is getting a fresh look

WICOMICO CO, Md. – In Wicomico County the charter is set to get a fresh look. Officials with the Salisbury Area Chamber of Commerce met Tuesday afternoon with the county council to discuss the appointment of a new charter review committee.

A process which happens every ten years. A list of ten recommendations are set to be looked by the council for the appointment of the committee.
Among the tasks they will be asked to do, will be reviewing a number of issues that came up with the appointment process for a new county executive.

“The last few years we’ve recognized the short comings and I think that’s what they want to see addressed. And I think the council equally wants to see that addressed,” says John T. Cannon, Republican member of the county council. “It’s important to have public input and we want as much public input as possible and we’ll initiate that process as we move forward.”

The review committee should have it’s initial meeting around March 1st according to officials. Councilman Cannon, he says the review committee will make numerous changes in the charter to best serve the county.
