Police arrest a Frankford man for felony DUI after he stole a truck
FRANKFORD, Del. — Police arrested a Frankford man after they say he stole a truck while under the influence on Sunday afternoon.
Police say on Sunday around 7 p.m. they were called to a home on Hickory Manor Road for reports of a stolen Chevy Silverado. Before police arrived, they also received reports of a Silverado that was involved in a crash on Roxana Road and Atlantic Avenue.
Police tell us after the suspect fled the initial accident, they were involved in another crash on Shockley Town Road.
On their way to the scene, police say noticed a man walking on Omar Road. They attempted to make contact with the man, who then ran away. After a short pursuit, police were able to catch and identify the suspect as 37-year-old Dorian Armstrong.
Police then noticed that Armstrong appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. Armstrong was taken to a nearby hospital to be medically cleared from the collisions.
After a thorough investigation was made, police discovered that Armstrong was an acquaintance of the truck’s owner and seen in the area where the Silverado was stolen.
Police say the owner started the Silverado to warm it up and went inside their home. That is when they heard the sound of their truck’s loud exhaust. The victim went outside and discovered their truck was stolen. In addition, Armstrong was no longer in the area.
As a result, Armstrong was arrested and is facing multiple charges, including 4th offense DUI and theft of a motor vehicle.
Armstrong was later committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on an $8,609 cash bond.
