Milford seeing boom in housing construction, commercial projects
MILFORD, Del. – Milford officials are sharing details about some development plans in the city including more than two-hundred housing units that will be built this year.
The city’s Planning and Economic Development Director says there’s a little bit of activity in pretty much all five neighborhoods of the city. When it comes to housing, the construction ranges from traditional single family homes to apartment units which officials hope will make the area more attractive as Milford continues to grow.
“So it’s more of a regional hub and I think we will continue to see some of these services and amenities and industries come in to Milford as we see the housing boom not just in Milford but in Southern Delaware general,” says Rob Pierce, the Planning and Economic Development Director for the city of Milford.
When it comes to commercial development, Pierce says there’s a lot of work going on along the Route 1 corridor including a new Microtel and medical office building. The new Milford Movies 9 opened right before the new year and the Old Bob Evans restaurant outside of it is being transformed into a steak and seafood spot.
