Gov. Hogan announces special enrollment for health insurance in Maryland

BALTIMORE, Md. – Governor Larry Hogan announced on Monday that a new special enrollment period is opening to give all uninsured Maryland residents the chance to enroll in health coverage now due to the ongoing pandemic and recent rise in positivity rate throughout the state.

This health coverage through Maryland Health Connection covers costs for coronavirus tests at doctor’s offices, urgent care centers, or emergency rooms.

We’re told the enrollment period begins immediately and will run until March 15th. Coverage dates will vary based on when a Marylander enrolls in a plan and will be as follows:

  • Enroll January 4th through January 15th: coverage starts January 1st
  • Enroll January 16th through February 15th: coverage starts February 1st
  • Enroll February 15th through March 15th: coverage starts March 1st
