COVID-19 Hotline nearing 600 calls daily, staff ask the public to be patient with them

SALISBURY, Md.- The Wicomico Health Department’s COVID-19 Hotline is keeping busy by receiving hundreds of calls a day.

Jennifer Johnson, the PIO of the Wicomico Health Department said for their COVID-19 Hotline people can just call in and from there they’ll be connected with the right person.

Common questions they are getting are about the new vaccine and virus.

People are asking questions like, “What’s the difference between the “Pzifer” and “Moderna” vaccine?”

In addition, they are wondering where they can get the vaccine.

We’re told people are also making complaints in regards to businesses not following with CDC guidelines.

“Our call center gets close to 600 calls a day and we know that people have a lot of questions, it’s different things like,  if I’m positive can I get the vaccine, which you can’t right away, you have to do your quarantine and make sure you feel okay, before you get the vaccine,” Johnson, said.

The health department asks that people be patient with them as they only have around 5 to 9 people working the call center.

The call center is open from Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

If you need to reach the COVID-19 hotline, the number is 410-912-6889.
