Bulldogs tamed by Delmar to open season

LAUREL, Del. – Delmar stormed back in the final minutes to upset the defending Henlopen South champions, 50-48.

Laurel held a consistent lead through the afternoon, but could never push their lead to double digits.

Eighth grader Davin Chandler led the way for the Wildcats with 14 points, including 6 in the fourth quarter. Cameron Bozman helped propel Delmar into the lead in the final minutes, converting 3-of-4 from the line.

Javier White led the way for Laurel with 17 points. Dontarius Jones added 12.

Delmar (1-0) will host Indian River on Thursday. Laurel (0-1) will travel to play Seaford in another Henlopen South battle next Tuesday.
