UPDATE: Wicomico Co. Correctional Officer death ruled homicide by gunshot wound



UPDATE: On Friday, January 8th, Maryland State Police ruled the death of 48-year-old Lesa White a homicide by gunshot wound.

White was reported missing on Monday by family members to the Pocomoke Police Department.

We’re told police are still searching for 52-year-old William Edward Strand of Pocomoke as a person of interest in the case.

The case remains under investigation. We’ll continue to update you on this story as more details become available.


POCOMOKE, Md. – Maryland State Police say a murder investigation is underway after a missing Wicomico County Correctional officer was found dead on Wednesday.

48-year-old Lesa White of Atlantic, VA, was found Wednesday night in a residence in the 1400 block of Snow Hill Lane in Pocomoke City.

Family members reported White missing to the Pocomoke Police Department on Monday. Preliminary investigation revealed that she was last seen earlier that day in the Pocomoke area. Maryland State Police Homicide Unit investigators were asked to assume the investigation, and White’s body is being taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.

Police say they’re now looking for We’re told Strand already has a warrant out for his arrest in connection with a separate attempted murder case. He was last seen driving a 2014 Chevy Malibu with the Maryland tag No. 5DP3127.
