Sussex County community helping Hurricane Eta victims
GEORGETOWN, Del. – People in Sussex County are stepping up to help those affected by Hurricane Eta in both Honduras and Guatemala.
The Voice Radio Network has teamed up with Sussex County resident Reyna Valladares and her family to help raise money for Hurricane Eta victims.
Last month, they held a radiothon and donations came pouring in. They’ve raised $37,000 and Valladares says this money will help them buy mattresses and other essential items for the victims.
“Thousands of people they don’t have jobs,” said The Voice Radio Network CEO and President Kevin Andrade.
“A lot of people they lost all the plantations of plantain and many other fruits and vegetables in Honduras especially and a lot of people saw the destruction of their houses so there’s a lot of people living and sleeping and eating in shelters,” said Andrade.
Andrade, Valladares, and several other community members will also be visiting Central America when it’s safe to help the Hurricane survivors.
