Salisbury officials to roll out text message alert system

SALISBURY, Md. – In Salisbury, city residents will soon have a quick, easy way to get updates about what’s going on in the area.

Next year, city officials are launching a new text message alert system that will let residents know about emergency alerts, severe weather, or even something like construction or road closures.

Acting Mayor Julia Glanz says this service will really help keep people up to date on information they may miss when they’re looking at social media or other internet sources.

“We frequently, living on the Eastern Shore, have road closures due to high water and things like that, and we’re not actively, most of us aren’t ever really looking for that on social media,” she said.

We’re told the city will roll out the new system on March 1st, 2021. It’s free to all citizens and you can begin signing up for the service on Friday. For more information on how to do that, you can click here.
