Laurel Women’s Civic Club host their first Wreaths Across America Remembrance Ceremony

LAUREL, Del.- The Laurel Women’s Civic Club put on a Wreaths Across America Remembrance Ceremony this afternoon at Oddfellows Cemetery.

We are told the ceremony is held in cemeteries across the nation to remember and honor veterans who have passed away.

This ceremony, in Laurel, coincided with the annual wreath laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.

The President of the club said this will be the first time putting on this ceremony, and adds that despite the pandemic, they felt it was still important to show the community their support.

” We just hope that the community supports this service project,” Brenda Rubino, President of Laurel Women’s Civic Club, said. “We felt so many families in the community have loved ones who have served or serving that it would be a nice service project for our community.”

The President of the club added that because they are a new non-profit in the area this event can hopefully get their name known in the community.

Also, the club was not able to actually lay wreaths this year on the graves of veterans, but they hope next year they can expand the event by being able to do so.
