Greenwood Elementary distributes more than 12,000 pounds of food at drive-thru event

SOMERSET CO., Md. – Staff and students in Somerset County did amazing work to feed over 800 people in need.

On Thursday, Greenwood Elementary announced they distributed over 12,700 pounds of food, feeding 239 families, for a total of 834 people. They handed out this food at their drive-thru distribution event at the school, which we’re told was the school’s largest to date.

We’re also told 18 school based and community volunteers worked together for the event. Greenwood Elementary leaders say their food distributions come at a vital time, with the pandemic causing some financial strain for families.

They say they will be announcing another distribution event for January 2021 very soon.
