Del. Division of Public Health announces mail-order naloxone
DELAWARE – Delaware’s Division of Public Health is taking a big step in the fight against overdoses, by announcing mail-order naloxone.
Naloxone is a drug that can be administered to suspected overdose patients that can reverse the effects of opioids.
Delaware is sadly ranked second in the nation when it comes to its rate of overdoses. State officials say already this year, 316 people have died from suspected overdoses, and they only expect that number to rise. They hope that by launching the new web platform, called NEXT Distro, they can get this life saving drug in more hands that need it.
Delawareans interested should log on to the website to access NEXT Distro’s Delaware program. From there, you will have to watch a video, take a short quiz, and complete a request form. Then, health officials will mail the free naloxone right to you within a few days.
