Crisfield Arts and Entertainment District highlights painting

CRISFIELD, Md. – One local artist put his paintbrush to a garage door to tell the history of a family in the area.

On Monday, the Crisfield Arts and Entertainment District highlighted a painting by Paul Sketch Boyd III of a family’s very personal history on the door of their two-door garage. The painting is of Mr. Elmer Barley’s father and uncle, Julius Caesar Barley, and the first African American physician in Crisfield, Dr. Winter Barkley.

The arts and entertainment district leaders say while they have increased their celebration of art, this particular mural of history, family, and heritage is an especially powerful addition to that celebration.
